The first Emperor of China à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"Qin Shi Huangdià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ started its making over 2,000 years ago and it has a record total length of 6,400 Kilometers (4,000 Miles), standing at highs of 7.5 meters (25 feet) and with thickness of up to 9 meters (Travel China Guide 2013).What is even more remarkable about the Wall of China is the way it stretches over the rough terrain of Mountains in between China and Mongolia creating one of the wonders of the world built to serve an important purpose of protection of the land of China (Rosenberg 2011).The Great Wall is undoubtedly a tribute to the importance of defense systems that societies build to p rotect their territories, the army of ancient China established their posts along the wall as the first line of defense against invading groups of people. In cases of attacks, signal fires were set off from the wall as early indications. The Wall also bears an extraordinary authentication of ancient China civilizations and remains one of the greatest and largest building and construction projects ever achieved by man (Rosenberg 2011).As far as Tourism in China is concerned, The Great Wall attracts the sights of people from all over the world. As such, The Wall underwent notable renovations during the 20th Century and remains one of the most important World Heritage sites as listed by UNESCO in 1987.
